"Imagine the aristocratic, slightly wild lovechild of The Ritz and Vivienne Westwood"
Stretching seductively behind the inspiring façade of the 19th Century Grade II building designed by renowned local architect George Skipper, St. Giles House is surely the first and last word as far as urban destination hotels go in Norfolk...

"Why is it that food tastes better outside?"
The terrace at St Giles Hotel has the feel of an exotic mediterranean location.
Why is it that food tastes better outside? The food we chose was a crab starter and sauteed wild mushrooms and mains of St Giles House Chicken Caesar salad and English Sirloin Steak with tarragon butter. The caesar salad was a delicious mix of crunchy cos lettuce and buttery chicken and the additions of anchovy fillets parmesan cheese and caesar dressing made it all the more tasty. The sirloin steak was served with a colourful mix of vine ripened tomatoes and tarragon butter with some great looking and tasting hand cut chips. I especially liked the crab dish which was like a bubble and squeak mixture including crab, shaped into a ball, rolled in breadcrumbs and lightly fried. It tasted exquisite, even better than straight dressed crab which is pretty hard to beat.
The service was excellent, friendly and very efficient and I would recommend St Giles as a place to have a relaxed lunch even though it's almost in the centre of Norwich.
If the lunch menu is that good, no doubt so is the dinner one too.
